Signature keynote

Burned out and good at it.

What burnout tells leaders about their most experienced people, and what to do before they leave.

The people who burn out first are often the ones who’ve been good at their work for ten years or more. Leaders usually find out when the resignation arrives. This keynote shows what to look for sooner, how to tell whether the problem sits with the person, the role, or the place, and how to start the conversation without promising what you can’t deliver.

Your audience leaves with

  • A shared way to name what’s behind burnout, using the 5 Cs
  • A read on whether someone needs a different role, a different team, or a different path, drawn from the four kinds of pivots
  • Questions for the next one-on-one with someone who’s wearing down
  • One change a manager can make this week

Why I do this work

Why I talk to leaders.

I used to work at a company that won Best Place to Work. We had happy hours, a trip to Disney, and more swag than anyone needed. Then came the meetings called “org updates” that nobody would explain, and layoffs followed, my boss was among them. I never heard from HR. We were told to rally for the mission. My workload quadrupled, and I was told to be grateful. Four months later, I quit.

I’d already spent years in leadership development, so I knew what a good workplace was supposed to look like. I know what burnout looks like from the inside, which is why I spend my time with the leaders who can still do something about it.

People Ops and HR

You’re holding retention goals and a manager group that needs better tools than “have a career chat.” Start with Career conversations for managers, or bring the signature keynote to a wider audience.

Conference and event organizers

You need a speaker who gives the audience something to do next week. The signature keynote works with Q and A. Send me your audience size, format, and theme, and I’ll shape it to fit.

Universities and higher-ed teams

I started in higher-ed leadership education, so I know the setting. Job crafting for managers and Keeping people when nobody’s moving tend to fit best.

Ongoing support

Need more than one session? Ask about a consulting retainer.

Some problems take longer than an afternoon. A retainer gives your leaders and managers regular access to me while the work happens.

What a retainer can include

  • A team diagnostic using the 5 Cs, with a readout for your leadership team
  • Regular coaching for leaders and managers, one on one or in small groups
  • A manager series on career conversations and job crafting
  • A standing session with the whole team each quarter
  • Advisory time for the questions that come up between sessions

How it works

  1. A free 30-minute call

We talk through what’s going on and what you’d like to change.

  2. A scope

We decide what’s worth doing and how often, so the work fits your calendar.

  3. A steady rhythm

Sessions, readouts, and advisory time on a schedule your team can count on.

  4. A regular check-in

We look at what’s working and adjust the plan.

Often a fit when

Experienced people keep leaving, the organization is in the middle of a reorg or the stretch after layoffs, or managers need more support than a single workshop can give.

What turnover costs you

Put a number on who left.

Plug in your own numbers. The ones below are only examples.

Replacement cost covers recruiting, onboarding, and the months a new person takes to get up to speed. Use your own percentage if you have one. It’s an assumption you control.

★★★★★

What stood out most was how much her replies resonated with our community, especially with members who were feeling down, burned out from constant layoffs, and navigating a tough, uncertain job market. Her ability to strike the right balance between empathy and actionable advice created a safe, supportive space that left a lasting impression. Working with her was a seamless experience from start to finish, and I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for a partner who brings expertise, professionalism, and genuine care to the table.
